Inheritance Design
Mitsubishi Jisho Design is not limited to the preservation and utilization of cultural assets, but has named its design and consulting services for the inheritance of value of a variety of buildings "Inheritance Design" * to convey the meaning that it is "design that clarifies the value of inherited cities and architecture, and creates new value for the future together with contemporary value."
In constantly changing cities and architecture, by allowing parts that change in response to societal demands to coexist with parts that preserve value, a gently connected history and human activities can be layered, creating the rich, diverse value and attractive environment required for a mature society.
With an abundant track record in the preservation and utilization of historical buildings, Renovation, and development and succession based on value judgments through detailed research, we contribute to the preservation and development of social value that goes beyond economic efficiency, functionality, and cultural value through a variety of methods, including design, consulting, technical support, assistance in reaching consensus with stakeholders, and archiving (record surveys associated with renovations and demolition).
We have a huge collection of drawings and photographs of buildings we have designed over 130 years ago, starting with the Mitsubishi Ichigokan, and use these to analyze and assess the appropriate value of buildings. We also collaborate with academics and engage in collaborative research with universities.
