PROJECTS

MUFG PARK / LIBRARY

This project transformed Musashino Athletic Field, which was owned by the bank and was previously a place for staff members to socialize, into a facility open to the public.
Recognizing that the forest, which has been cultivated for over half a century, is a valuable asset, we aimed to preserve and pass on this environment, and to turn it into a place for recreation and community building for the future of the local area and society.

MUFG PARK

We have responded to various needs, such as updating the sports facilities, laying out walking and running courses, and creating a grassy area for barbecues. The paths connecting each facility are laid out so that they pass through the existing trees, and permeable pavement and infiltration trenches allow all rainwater to be returned to the ground. Sidewalk-like open spaces have been developed on the north and west sides of the site, with consideration given to the safety of residents.

MUFG LIBRARY

Along the garden path, a library filled with books donated by local residents has been set up. The deepening of the local community through books is visualized as a "forest bookshelf" where books are collected, and a large roof is placed over it, creating a simple structure.
The deep eaves over the veranda where people can relax block direct sunlight from entering the building, preventing sunburn on the books, and the building has acquired ZEB Ready certification due to its reduced environmental impact. We have created a place where people can enjoy and get close to precious nature, and pass it on to the local community.
