Marunouchi 1-chome Block 4 Construction Project (Shin-Marunouchi Building) Environmental impact assessment
Applicable laws and regulations: Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance
Eligible projects: High-rise buildings (specific areas) (height over 180m and total floor area over 150,000㎡)
Completed: 2008
This project was the assessment of Maru Building, the first such project in the Marunouchi area, and Shin-Maru Building, located across Gyoko-dori Street, and like Maru Building, it was a reconstruction project that attracted a great deal of attention.
Because the maximum height is approximately 198m, it was subject to assessment even after the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance was revised in July 2002, and predictions and evaluations were carried out for air pollution, noise and vibration, shadows, radio interference, wind environment, and scenery.
In assessing this project, we took into consideration the implementation of radio interference countermeasures taking into account the scope of impact from the previously completed Maru Building, as well as the implementation of follow-up surveys that took into account the impact of construction work on the Tokyo Station underground plaza, which was being carried out at the same time.
