Seikei Gakuen Main Building
Seikei Gakuen Main Building
The main building of Seikei Gakuen was designed by Kotaro Sakurai of Mitsubishi and constructed by Shimizu Gumi Limited Partnership, and was completed in 1924 (Taisho 13).
The strong axis of the approach and the symmetrical layout of the surrounding buildings create a symbolic campus space. The neat brick tile exterior, along with the rows of Zelkova trees, have fostered tradition as the face of the school for 80 years.
In this renovation, the exterior facade and major interior elements such as the auditorium have been preserved and restored to their original appearance at the time of completion, while functional improvements have been made, including seismic reinforcement, layout changes, and equipment renovations, so that the building can continue to be used in accordance with modern needs.
