MARK IS minatomirai Grand Mall Park renovation work
MARK IS minatomirai / Grand Mall Park Renovation
This commercial facility takes advantage of its convenient location directly opposite the Yokohama Museum of Art and Grand Mall Park in Minato Mirai 21 District, and directly connected underground to Minato Mirai Station.
As the second store in "MARK IS," the core brand of commercial facilities developed by Mitsubishi Estate, the concept was to create a multi-level urban park integrated with the art museum and Grand Mall Park, with the theme of creating "a comfortable place that you'll want to visit even if you don't have any business there."
The exterior is designed to be segmented and stacked, aiming to create an attractive space where things and events overlap, with white aluminum cast screens and greenery on the walls scattered as accents. At the Grand Galleria located in the center, customers can shop or relax while enjoying the lush greenery of the surrounding area, the greenery of the patio and terrace, and the soft light that shines through the "Komorebi Roof" symbolic of the multi-level urban park at the top.

Underground connection
We are also working on planning an underground connection between the facility and Minatomirai Station on the Yokohama Municipal Subway (Minatomirai 21 Line).
The first step in the construction was to widen the existing station building (expanded area of station building: approx. 250 m2). The office and other station functions were relocated and consolidated into the expanded area, and the various functions that were previously dispersed inside and outside the ticket gates were consolidated to improve the efficiency of station operations. In addition, the construction work allowed the station office and other facilities to be set back, and the concourse to be widened, ensuring smoother traffic flow to surrounding areas including MARK IS minatomirai, and improving convenience and mobility.
The relocation of the station office was a highly challenging project as it required relocating important facilities that manage the station's functions without disrupting existing station operations. However, the entire project was completed without disrupting station operations or passenger services.
Grand Mall Park renovation work
Grand Mall Park is a park that symbolizes Minato Mirai, facing the Yokohama Museum of Art and running north and south through the Minato Mirai 21 central district.
In conjunction with the construction of the new "MARK IS Minatomirai" adjacent to the Art Plaza, renovations were carried out to renovate the connecting area and to integrate it with the commercial facility to create a lively atmosphere.
In the connecting area, bollards and other obstacles were removed, and in the bridgehead plaza, the waterway that divided the space was repaired, and a floor mist was installed in the center, creating a lively hub. In addition, art furniture and greenery were placed to watch over the floor mist, creating a relaxing space with a shady background.
