A journey through old drawings
Journey to old drawings
Mitsubishi Jisho Design (hereinafter, "our company")
It was installed inside Mitsubishi in 1890 (Meiji 23).
It is the oldest design organization in Japan, having started as the Marunouchi Architectural Office.
The architectural drawings managed by our company have been preserved uninterrupted, dating back to Mitsubishi Ichigokan, which was completed in 1894 (Meiji 27), up to the present day.
Currently, our "Old Drawings Research Group" is conducting sequential investigations and analysis.
The vast amount of information from the drawings allows us to learn about the design concepts and architectural techniques of each era.
What were the designers of each era thinking when they worked on their designs? What did they want to convey to future generations by leaving behind drawings?
What kind of legacy does it have? We will guide you through the profound world that emerges as we unfold each drawing one by one.
