Environmental impact assessment for the Okazaki Harizaki Project (Harusaki Hills) (Tentative name)
Applicable laws and regulations: Okazaki City Living Environment Impact Survey Ordinance
Eligible business: Development activities (10ha or more)
Completed: 2008
This project involves developing the former Nisshinbo Harisaki Factory site in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, into land for single-family homes, public facilities, and medical facilities. The scale of the project is approximately 15.6 hectares.
Environmental assessments are being carried out for air pollution, water contamination, noise, vibration, animals, and plants. As conservation measures to reduce the impact of construction on the surrounding area, water sprinkling is being carried out and settling ponds are being installed to deal with falling dust and turbid water. In addition, with regard to vibration and noise, a plan was drawn up that takes into consideration the surrounding living environment, such as the use of low-pollution construction machinery. Other conservation measures include transplanting important species of plants and animals that have been confirmed to live within the project area to suitable locations.
