Tokyo Woman's Christian University, Buildings 23 and 25 and open space
This project aimed to develop a campus for a traditional women's university that was founded over 90 years ago. The aim was to create a new educational space while preserving the environment that has been nurtured by history and greenery for the next generation.
In order to maintain a lush green environment, the placement and species of trees were investigated, and in consultation with school experts, decisions were made as to which trees should be left in place, transplanted, or cut down, and the placement of the buildings was determined.
Considering harmony with the existing buildings designed by A. Raymond, the design philosophy makes use of the exposed concrete "material." Also, with an emphasis on integration with the environment, various spaces are provided to bring the beautiful campus scenery into the building.
