Meiji University Nakano Campus
Meiji University Nakano Campus
This is Meiji University's fourth campus, located in the redevelopment area of the former National Police Academy site.
As a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and education base, we aimed to create a "Forest of Knowledge" that fuses knowledge from around the world and fosters new knowledge. At the entrance facing the park, a large eaves supported by tree-like columns, symbolizing the "Forest of Knowledge," welcomes visitors and leads to the Campus Mall, the center of interaction.

The lower floors are set back in a stepped manner from the residential area to the west, ensuring a landscape that harmonizes with the surrounding environment.
The upper floors are constructed with a deep grid of eaves, which evokes the image of an accumulation of "knowledge," reducing solar radiation and creating a shaded appearance. Within the facility, a lounge has been effectively set up as a place for interdisciplinary exchange, with mechanisms to encourage a variety of intellectual communication.
Landscape Design
Landscape Design planning involved repeated discussions with neighboring businesses and designers, and by creating a unified spatial design across both blocks, we have created a spacious exterior space.
The paving design uses a barcode pattern embedded with a code that links each of the eras the university has gone through, and to create the impression of a lush campus, we sought to plant lush greenery throughout the site, including on the walls of the buildings and on outdoor terraces.
