Otemachi, Tokyo, is home to the offices of some of Japan's leading companies and organizations. Since 2003, Mitsubishi Estate has been spearheading a project to rebuild large, dilapidated buildings and redevelop the area into a business hub with even greater international competitiveness. The project aims to revitalize the city by gradually developing an area of approximately 17.4 hectares, and then carrying out a chain of relocations and rebuilding, without interrupting the business activities of landowners and occupant companies.
The third project, completed in 2016, included the construction of two buildings: the "Grand Cube," consisting of offices on the upper floors and shops on the lower floors, and the accommodation facility "HOSHINOYA Tokyo." In addition to being located at a location that connects the first and second projects, and forming a public space that combines with the surrounding area to create a lively atmosphere, the building is also attracting attention as the first "disaster prevention base building" in Japan to take on the role of disaster prevention in the area.
