Annex of Hoheikan
Annex of Hoheikan
The Hoheikan Annex was built in 1880 as lodgings for the Emperor's visits, and was designated an Important Cultural Property in 1964. The aim of this building was to make further use of this historic structure in a state close to the original appearance of its construction, and it serves as the entrance to the Hoheikan and is equipped with necessary functions such as an administration office, toilets, ramps, and elevators. It is planned compactly, using highly transparent glass and not obtrusively standing out against the historic structure.
