Watari Town Hall / Health and Welfare Center
Watari Town Hall / Health and Welfare Center
The new town hall will serve as a base for the region's recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was expected to become the hub of activities and exchanges for the townspeople. As many public facilities are planned to be built in the surrounding area, an outdoor corridor called the "Watari Terrace" was installed under a large eaves. In addition to connecting each function, it will be extended as the town develops in the future, forming a network that connects the region. With unevenly arranged vertical louvers reminiscent of igune (house forests) and extensive use of wood from Miyagi Prefecture, this facility will become a symbol of the region.
