Our Initiatives Toward Robot-Friendly City and Architecture
As a first step in the initiative to "create a walkable space where pedestrians, mobility devices, and robots coexist," as outlined in the "Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho Smart City Vision" formulated in 2020, a demonstration experiment was conducted in January 2022 on Marunouchi Nakadori Street to create a robot driving environment using a 3D digital map that combines indoor and outdoor areas.
A versatile 3D digital map was created from outdoor general-purpose 3D digital map data provided with the cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and our company's architectural BIM model data for the building, and we confirmed that the point cloud data in the virtual space was of a quality that would allow a robot to travel by actually running it from a store in the building to the outdoor terrace seating. This demonstration experiment was conducted as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's Smart City Model Project.
