Shimizu Corporation, Mitsubishi Estate Mitsubishi Jisho Design, and Euglena have been selected for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's "Biofuel Utilization Commercialization Promotion Support Project"

Aiming to popularize and revitalize the use of biofuels in the construction industry

Shimizu Corporation (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuyuki Inoue; hereinafter referred to as "Shimizu Corporation"), Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Executive Officer and President: Atsushi Nakajima; hereinafter referred to as "Mitsubishi Estate"), Mitsubishi Jisho Design Inc. Inc. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Junichi Tanizawa; hereinafter referred to as "Mitsubishi Jisho Design"), and euglena Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Mitsuru Izumo; hereinafter referred to as "euglena") are pleased to announce that they have been selected as operators for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's public "Support Project to Promote Commercialization of Biofuel Utilization."

  • HVO is an abbreviation for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. It is a fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) made by hydrotreating biomass (biological resources) raw materials, and is attracting attention as a fuel that contributes to the realization of a decarbonized society because it is more effective in reducing CO2 emissions than conventional fuels derived from petroleum. It can be used alone or mixed with conventional fuels, and will be used alone (100%) in this project.

Project name: "Promotion of biofuel use in construction projects to realize a carbon-free society"

Project overview: At the construction site of the "Torch Tower," which will be the tallest in Japan upon completion, 100% pure biofuel will be used for construction machinery and promotion will be carried out to expand the use of biofuel in the construction industry.

Project period (planned): September 2024 to March 2026
