Mitsubishi Jisho Design 's "Historical Building Inheritance Design" initiative: Content introducing the firm's extensive track record and know-how published on the company's website
Mitsubishi Jisho Design Inc. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hayashi Soichiro) is pleased to announce that it has compiled design techniques derived from its experience in redevelopment projects involving the utilization and preservation of a wealth of historical buildings into "Historic Building Inheritance Design," and has published content on its website introducing this know-how.
Mitsubishi Jisho Mitsubishi Jisho Design has been involved in over 20 redevelopment projects involving the utilization and preservation of buildings built after the Meiji period. The methods used to convey the value of the buildings we have worked on in epoch-making projects such as the Japan Industrial Club Building, Mitsubishi Ichigokan, Ginza Kabukiza, and JP Tower to future generations include "preservation," "restoration and reproduction," "image preservation," and many others. In order to let many people know about these efforts, we believe that a new term that encompasses all of these diverse methods, "Inheritance Design," is appropriate. This term contains the meaning of "design that creates new value for the future while preserving the historical value of cities and architecture."
Our company has always placed importance on ensuring a balance between "building value," "ensuring safety," and "business viability," and has led projects to success. Currently, we are working on five "historical building Inheritance Design" projects. As buildings constructed during the postwar period of rapid economic growth pass through the 50th year of their construction, we believe that it will be socially significant to clarify the historical value of the buildings and pass on their essential value, rather than just their form, to the next generation. We hope that our know-how gained from our extensive experience will be useful to many business operators.
