We are pleased to announce that Taipei Nanshan Plaza, designed by our firm, has won the Excellence Award in the Single Site category of the CTBUH Awards 2021 Urban Habitat Awards presented by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

Founded in 1969, CTBUH is an international non-profit organization headquartered at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the U.S., as a professional organization dedicated to advancing knowledge of high-rise and urban architecture. The skyscraper rankings published by CTBUH are now widely recognized around the world.

The Urban Habitat Award, established in 2014, recognizes high-rise buildings that contribute to the surrounding urban environment. To date, world-renowned projects that have received the award include "The Interlace" (Singapore, designed by OMA, 2014), the "World Trade Center" master plan (USA, 2018) including "One World Trade Center" (designed by SOM), and the "Central Park" plan (Sydney, 2019) including "One Central Park" (designed by Jean Nouvel).

This award is in recognition of the efforts made by Taipei Nanshan Plaza, such as the provision of public spaces within the building that connect with surrounding pedestrian circulation and benefit the general public throughout the year, the facade design that takes into account the region's particular climate, the tower's shape and details that reduce the impact of wind on the surrounding area, and greenery that enhances biodiversity. It is believed that this award was given in recognition of the fact that these efforts have in turn been recognized as architectural value, resulting in office floor rents that are among the highest in Taiwan.
